The Bible says that you need to believe to be saved (e.g. Eph. 2:8). Animals are not able to believe, so animals cannot be saved.

However, there will be animals in God’s kingdom. The prophet Isaiah has several description of God’s kingdom that include animals:

6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den. (Isaiah 11:6-8)

The wolf and the lamb shall graze together;
the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
and dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain,”
says the Lord. (Isaiah 35:25)

5 Responses to Will pets be in the Kingdom of God?

  1. Len says:

    Animals are not “sinners” and so they have no need to be saved.
    Nothing is impossible with God and I believe he will allow us to have our pets(his creation) in heaven.

    • Edmund says:

      Neither they are conscious of their Creator and therefore know not His will and consequently cannot be in the Kingdom. And for clarification as to where is this Kingdom going to established please see following answer:

      While it is certainly true that it is possible for God to resurrect treasured pets, I don’t think there are any verses that suggest it, and so I think it unlikely (I’m not even sure that those in the Bible had pets in the same way that we do – dogs were certainly not looked on with favour).

      If you think there are verses, I would be glad to hear them.

  2. Len says:

    Ok. It’s either too hard for God or he doesn’t care about our pets or how we feel about them. That’s is I suppose, He doesn’t care.

    How animals dogs, cats, etc were looked on in the bible days is not necessarily how god views them and his creation.

    • Jonathan Morgan says:

      God caring doesn’t necessarily mean he does what we want or what we feel like. I could equally say that there are cases where husband cares about wife or vice versa, and that will not automatically make the husband or wife in the kingdom.

      How animals were viewed in Bible days is certainly not necessarily God’s view on them. The only reason I mentioned it was to provide another reason for why God would not write anything about it.
