God knew that sin would enter the world, as you say.  But he made the world so that his purpose would come to pass.  This necessitated people, of their own freewill, renouncing serving sin and choosing to serve God.   God wanted a family of people filled with his fullness – people who serve him out of love, not out of compulsion.  These people will inherit the world, and the world will one day be full of the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the seas.  Jesus Christ is the lynchpin for this whole plan.  In fact, Jesus is the reason for this plan.  We read in Colossians 1:16 LITV

For all things were created in Him [Jesus], the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, the visible and the invisible; whether thrones, or lordships, or rulers, or authorities, all things have been created through Him and for Him.

God’s plan in a nutshell:

  • Jesus died to save those who love God
  • Gospel preached to Jews and Gentiles so people could choose to love God
  • Jesus to return to earth to give immortality to his faithful followers and establish God’s Kingdom on Earth
  • Jesus, with the help of the saints, to subdue the earth and teach the inhabitants of God’s ways
  • Sin and death to be finally overcome, when Jesus hands the Kingdom back to God

Evidence from Scripture for the above statements:

Romans 6:8-12:

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.  (9)  We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  (10)  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.  (11)  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.  (12)  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.

Ephesians 3:9-19:

to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things,  (10)  so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.  (11)  This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,  (12)  in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.  (13)  So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.  (14)  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,  (15)  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,  (16)  that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  (17)  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith–that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  (18)  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  (19)  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Romans 4:13:

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

1 Corinthians 15:22-28:

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.  (23)  But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.  (24)  Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.  (25)  For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.  (26)  The last enemy to be destroyed is death.  (27)  For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him.  (28)  When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Habakkuk 2:14:

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
