Firstly, we have to recognise that we are all ungodly – we all fall short of our divine calling. This should bring about a humility and gratefulness for God’s forgiveness. Think of Paul’s honesty here:

Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Romans 7:24-25

Secondly, we should remember who Christ died for:

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6

So we should see the ungodly as people for whom Christ died. This means that our job is to spread the good news of salvation and encourage others to embrace it.

Of course there will come a time for judgement when God will bring an end to all ungodliness in the world. For those who have chosen to seek God this will mean being transformed into perfection. For those who have turned away from God it will, tragically, be the end. (Rom. 2:5-11; 14:10)
