I agree that this world is not just nor is it rational. God didn’t promise us that this world would be just. This has been a problem for many godly people right through the ages. I suggest that we should view this problem in this way: We are not here to become wealthy or be recognised as worthy of honour. We are here to humbly serve God and gratefully accept what he decrees for us. Our hope is in the return of Jesus (1 Thess 1:10) to establish God’s Kingdom here on earth. We are not part of this system of things (Heb 11:13) and our aspirations are not for material things. Wicked people who prosper through dishonesty in this age, will not be given eternal life when Jesus returns, and are therefore to be pitied, not envied.

Psa 37:1-40 Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! (2) For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. (3) Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. (4) Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (5) Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. (6) He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. (7) Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! (8) Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. (9) For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. (9) They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth. (10) Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them. (11) And they say, “How can God know? (5) The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. Prov 23:17-19 Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the LORD all the day. (18) Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off. (19) Hear, my son, and be wise, and direct your heart in the way.
Prov 24:19-22 Fret not yourself because of evildoers, and be not envious of the wicked, (20) for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out. (21) My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not join with those who do otherwise, (22) for disaster will arise suddenly from them, and who knows the ruin that will come from them both?
