When Jesus left us and went to heaven, the disciples were given a prophecy:

This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven. (Acts  1:11)

Since then, Christians have waited, sometimes impatiently, for Jesus’ return. And because the Bible is full of interesting and tantalizing prophecies and numerical side games, there’s been a steady stream of Christians guessing a particular date for the return of our Lord. And there’s now a “Christian Scholar” proclaiming that he’s calculated the “second coming of Christ to be on 5/21/2011”.

Well, so far, all 100% of them have been wrong, and this will most likely be yet another. Jesus told us this:

But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. (Matt 24:36)

So we just don’t know when Jesus will come. In the meantime:

For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. (Gal 5:5)

  1. Mark Darnell says:

Christ said himself that only the Father know when Jesus is going to come back, no one know but God. Not the angels in heaven, not a earthly calculated calender only God knows when this world is over. (Matt 25:36)

He’s gonna come back very quick, and at a time you least expect it.
People can come up with anything that pleases there carnal brains but the truth is already settled.(Psalms 119:89).

And all there science in the world won’t be worth a dime on that great day.

No one can write anything new that God doesn’t have covered already, so don’t wast you time in another book because other books about the end of time are the device of Satan. (2 Corinthians 2:11)

And this “Christian Scholar” will also have to answer for the things he says for confusing the minds of those who are lost. He cannot call himself a Christian if he does not believe in the immutable forces of God.

  2. Mark Darnell says:

Who are you going to believe, the Creator, or the created.

God said let Him be true, and everyman a liar, and do not boast to claim yourself to be higher than your are, because the Heavens are higher than the earth. ( Galations 6:3) and ( Romans 3:4)

And if a man predicts anything other the what will happen has no faith in Christ.
And without faith it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6) and (Proverbs 25:19)

  3. ben says:

Jesus will come when he is preached all over the world till know the mission is not accomplished . Every people should know about jesus. and jesus will be the hot topic all over the world . in media , newspapers ,magazine, and in the internet . aall the people will have a choice to choose jesus and also to reject him then the end will come

  4. Grahame Grieve says:

    > Jesus will come when he is preached all over the world

The notion that Jesus will come *once* he has been preached all over the world is taken from Mat 28:18- 20:

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

But he doesn’t actually *say* that he won’t come back until all nations have been preached to. Anyway, it’s been at least a century since Jesus was preached to “all nations” (as opposed to “all people”)

  5. lisa says:

What has happened in the bible , that the end of this world has happened already ? And how does this oil spil relate to the end of time ????

  6. Grahame Grieve says:

    > the end of this world has happened already

There’s no definitive event that’s happened in the world yet that would unambiguously show the end of this world has already happened – unless you count Jesus’ death and resurrection, but that isn’t the sense you mean.

    > how does this oil spill relate to the end of time

Well, it confirms that we don’t really know how to govern ourselves, and we must wait for Jesus to return with ever increasing urgency. But I don’t see any more direct prophetical link. (Though see James 5 : 1 – 6)

  7. Charles Harris says:

Jesus said only the Father knows the time when He will return for His bride.
In the old Jewish tradition, when a couple became engaged, the groom returned to his father’s house to prepare a place for his bride. Only when the father said the place was finished could the groom go get his bride. No one knows when the father will determine that the place is ready, not even the groom.
Today, Jesus has gone to His Father’s home to prepare a place for His bride. When God, the Father decides the place is ready for the bride, He will send His Son to get His bride and bring her to the place prepared for her. Therefore, even Christ does not know when He will come for His bride (the church).

  8. Billy Marr says:

People keep talking about Matthew 24:36. In the Greek
Interlinear Bible it reads, in rough English –
About yet the day that and the hour not yet one has perceived not yet the messengers of the heavens if no the Father of me only.
It may all be Greek to me, but it seems to indicate that
someone will know at some point in time.

  9. LAINE says:

this man is not claiming to be a prophet or sharing visions or dreams he had concerning THE DAY. he is a scholar, which is much different than a false prophet. he is using the Bible to with all its prophecies, foretelling, and information to calculate when the Lord could return. he is not stating he heard from Jehovah about the date of our Lords return. he is making a guess based on information. we all makes guess ourselves saying it should be this year or before the end of 2011, which is not different than what he is doing pretty much, he has just pinpointed it to when it would match up with the writings of the Bible. i believe we need scholars like this to wake up the sheep. many are asleep and don’t not want to consider the Lords return is less than a year away. WAKE UP. according the the Bible it very well could be, and the scholar is pointing that out.
many have had dreams that obama is the last president. some have had dreams that the false prophet is not a person but is the media machine (tv-internet- radio- newspaper).
i am not saying the scholars knows the day, but i am guessing that someone here on earth thinks it will be a certain day and just from coincidence a few will be right.
i pay no attention to a certain day, we must be ready everyday! i pray its soon as i pray for lost love ones.
    that we will be ready.

  10. Raymond says:

Well put LAINE. In the time of Noah and the flood, God told Noah He would flood the earth and Noah did not know when but he built the arc anyway and it took him many many years but when the time had come for God to flood the earth he told Noah 7 days prior to the flood…so i believe we are not to know the day of Jesus’s return but when that day is more near we will have a heads up and i believe this scholar is warning us as did Noah to the people of that time. Gods children will know when we are close.Daniel 12:4 (NASB)

4 “But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”

in the end time(now) we will be more knowledgeable of the things to come, things will start lining up and make more sense and if you open your eyes you can see how close we are to the return of Christ

  11. robert Heintze says:

Harold Camping is another example of a “self-righteous” biblical scholar, who has allowed his 70 years of expertise in study, to go to his head. The author of “Prophecies 2008”, was found to be another false prophet (as HE claimed to be one of the 2 prophets in revelation who were to be killed for their testimonies, and left to rot in the street.) I do not mock Marie Exley or Mr. Camping of his prediction, but if Camping has such an ittinerant grasp of scripture, how did he manage to overlook Mat. 24:36? Christ isn’t going to return when we MOST expect it, as in on May 21, 2011! Also, there is no mention of the TERM the rapture in the Bible. Man put it there. Given all of the carnal and “wishie washie” christians out there, how can anyone presume that ALL of us will not have to endure at least half of the tribulation, as we will be FORCED to acknowledge our faith. The rapture (not the second coming) is a candy coated pipe dream, which presumes that all “true” christains will somehow be exempt/get out of the untold suffering that is coming to our world.

  12. Shailesh says:

I just heard this explanation…In his earthly life Jesus willingly took human limitations and in that context he said that only father knew the time of his second coming and he did not know it. But now he is back to glory and must know about it….Secondly God does reveal everything concerning our life….thought?

  13. Rev Fred says:

Churches never mention these verses that state the believers will know more than the unbeliervers like when christ will return, ask your minister what these verses mean! I am sure that he will not have an answer.

    1 Thessalonians 5:
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

  14. Bob Mysterio says:

This prediction is nonsense. Is Camping prepared to be stoned on 22nd May 2011 as a false prophet? I pity the people who are fooled by this kind of lie. Camping claims that the church age ended on 21st May 1988 and the tribulation started on 7th Sept 1994. Considering the might of God, these two events, if true, were very low key. He offers no explanation as to how he knows anything of import happened on these two dates. He also relies on dubious number assosciations such as 17 representing Heaven and 23 signifying Gods wrath.

  15. Bob Mysterio says:

BTW Jesus could return on 21st May 2011, or any other time. It is decreed by God when this happens, we are to discern the signs of the times, but I believe Jesus when he states no-one knows the day or the hour.
I love reading Bible prophecy and I think there is something to learn from everyones insights. As a general pointer I reject any theories that require a 7 year tribulation period or a rebuilt temple. The 70th week of Daniel follows the 69th, it is not 2000+ years in the then future. A rebuilt temple and resumation of temple sacrifices is a statement that Jesus sacrifice was not enough.
I just think Campings reasoning is flawed. He claims that the Earth was created in 11013BC based on his own theory that the patriarchs represented family lines rather than single generations. Stick with the Bible and you won’t go wrong.

  16. Mike Corn says:

Bob wrote, “The 70th week of Daniel follows the 69th, it is not 2000+ years in the then future.” Nonsense! If you were correct, then all of the following would have been fulfilled by the end of the 70th week: “Seventy weeks of years are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, TO FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION, TO MAKE AN END OF SINS, AND TO MAKE RECONCILIATION FOR INIQUITY, AND TO BRING IN EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND TO SEAL UP THE VISION AND PROPHECY, AND TO ANOINT THE MOST HOLY.” Is there an end of sins? No. Has the most holy been anointed? Not yet! Care to rebut?

  17. Mike says:

Thank you Robert Heintze for pointing out the the man-made notion of the term “Rapture.” I have been reading the Bible striving to become a better Christian, and I’ve found this concept confusing. When it or if it comes and for who. I have been careful not to jump to conclusions, but my current understanding is that all Christians will be told to renounce their faith of Christ to an earthly authority in the name of the Anti-Christ. The end result will be persecution and death of this world either by fire or sword. Jesus suffered and died for us so it would be our turn to suffer and die for him.

We are now in the “Age of Aquarius.” New Age Religion programming is saying Jesus was an old prophet of the old age and that we are to be introduced to the last prophet of the age of Aquarius. Movements are in place refuting the Bible – the word of God. This is all very real! The people that run the world are behind it. What is missing from the New Age programming is that followers will really be worshiping Satan (they call him Lucifer), and once sovereignty of nations is lost they will have full control of this world. I believe all Christians will suffer greatly and be executed for not accepting the new age Leader/beast. They can only hurt us in this world though! I pray for all humanity in these dark days ahead. We have strength in Jesus Christ!

I’m not concerning myself of calculating the exact date, only that we have enough time to become the seed planted in the soil as opposed to the seed vulnerable to the wind on the rock. It’s sad to me that I see so much corruption in the church. Everyone seems to believing what they want to believe. So many people seem to be in denial. Either that or the church isn’t informing them. I even have concerns of the Pope, and his apparent acceptance of the new age religion. He’s suppose to lead us to Christ not away from him!

It’s a very confusing time. My only refuge has been the Bible! I’m not even sure what Church I can trust. I thank God for opening my eyes! I very well could have fallen trap to deception of the coming New Age Religion. I have friends and family that I love that will most likely trap to it. Very sad. May God forgive man for our wretchedness and ignorance of his word! May he open others eyes like he has mine! Pray for the world to open their eyes! May the holy trinity give us strength in these dark days ahead!

  18. James Sullivan says:

..Come give me a break..Use correct Math..Stan comes at The 6th Trump..Jesus returns at the 7th Trump…why are you all so confused?

  19. clive de kock says:

1st of all…the rapture is not n man made story but a biblical truth…the bible is not a story book.you cant just read it and take it word for word.there is secrts hidden for us to uncover.take Rev.,Amos,Esekiel etc for example.look,we as Christians must stand together and not take each other on about it.Jesus wants us to love each other.i am not a peacher nor a bible expert.i dont know where exateley in the bible its is,but it clearly says “2 women will be sowing the fields, the one will be taken and the other left behind” so what about that then.lets not fight among each other about this.lets be ready!!!!the end is near.2nd,yes i also dont think that 21 may 2011 is the day of the rapture.only because of math.24:36. but looking at the mayencalender(21 dec 2012) and now 21 oct 2011.id say its raises interesting topics.God bless us all.

  20. Humphrey Tshobonga says:

I apreciate what these scholars are saying, because what we all know is that Jesus is still coming, wheather tomorow or next week or next month or next year, but He is coming. I personaly would be worried if they were saying, relax He is not coming or He has come already so there is no need for anyone to wait or He will be coming in 2050 whereas He is coming in May 2011. I would call that satanic, and realy misleading to all of us who believe that we should keep ourselves holy for His second coming as we are the holy bride. We have been preparing ourselves for His second coming, so if He comes tomorow or on the 21st May 2011 it is the same thing, but the reality is “be ready Jesus is coming, soon. if you read the book of Hosea chapter 6:2 you will undestand that Jesus is coming.
