Bible Q

How many titles or names are given to King David?

Here are seven that I could find:

Shepherd

Armor-bearer to King

And David came to Saul and entered his service. And Saul loved him greatly, and he became his armor-bearer. (1Sa 16:21)

A Commander of Saul’s army

And David went out and was successful wherever Saul sent him, so that Saul set him over the men of war. And this was good in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. (1Sa 18:5)

King’s Son-In-Law

And David said to Saul, “Who am I, and who are my relatives, my father’s clan in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?” (1Sa 18:18)

Prince over Israel

And David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince over Israel, the people of the LORD–and I will make merry before the LORD. (2Sa 6:21)

King over Judah

And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. When they told David, “It was the men of Jabesh-gilead who buried Saul,” (2Sa 2:4)

King over Israel

So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel. (2Sa 5:3)
