Sapphires are gemstones and are mentioned in the following passages:
- Exodus 24:10
- Exodus 28:18
- Exodus 39:11
- Job 28:6,16
- Song of Solomon 5:14
- Isaiah 54:11
- Lamentations 4:7
- Ezekiel 1:26
- Ezekiel 10:1
- Ezekiel 28:13
- Revelation 21:19
Most likely, this stone was actually lapis lazuli rather than the stone we now know as sapphire.
The Bible does not explain any particular symbolic meanings for gemstones. However, lapis lazuli is intensely blue, and so it may have sometimes been used as a symbol for heaven.
It represented one of the tribes in the high-priest’s breastplate (Exodus 28:17-20) although we are not told which stone stood for which tribe.
It also decorated one of the foundations in John’s vision of the new Jerusalem (Revelation 21:9-20) and so was associated with one of the 12 apostles (Revelation 21:14), although again we are not told which one.
See this is wrong cause the bible does say what which stone stood for what tribe..
“The
first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the
fourth, an emerald; 20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh,
chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus;
the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were
twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city
was pure gold, as it were transparent glass” Rev. 21: 19-21 and if you do your research you will know exactly what tribe is what foundation. ITs there you ust have to look. Another way for proof is in Ex.
You have not provided any verse stating which tribe corresponds to which stone. If it is so clear, please provide the evidence.
