There are only two angels that are given personal names: Gabriel and Michael.

Gabriel is mentioned in Daniel 8:16 and 9:21, and in Luke 1:19,26.

Michael is the only angel called an “archangel” (or chief angel). He appears in Daniel 10:13,21; 12:1,  Jude 9 and Revelation 12:7.

If the Essenes kept the all the names of the Angels, why then are there only two names of Angels in scripture?

It seems that God didn’t think it was important for us to know the names of angels apart from Gabriel and Michael. Many people, including the Essenes, have developed a detailed fictional history of angels including many named angels. No doubt this is because we would like to know more on this subject, and as God has chosen not to tell us, people make it up to fill the gap.

    What about Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12)?
