Jesus says “the Father is greater than I” (John 14:28). That seems pretty clear cut.

The key phrase in 1 Cor 3:23 is “Christ is God’s” It expresses the idea that Christ belongs to God, in the same way that we belong to Christ.

There are other verses we could turn to but the principle is the same: God is first — Jesus is subject to him.

1 Cor 15:24-28 describes how when Christ has established the Kingdom of God on the earth he will deliver that Kingdom to God and then Christ himself will be subject to God.

Phil 3:21 talks about Christ’s power to subject all things to himself. As we have seen from 1 Cor 15, this does not mean that Christ has power over God; rather Christ is subject to God.
