The Bible contains words of comfort, words that can encourage us when the troubles of life are weighing heavy upon our heart. Along with prayer to God for help, these scriptures can help us endure the challenges we face. Listed below are a few passages that I personally find helpful, I would encourage and invite anyone reading this to add the passages they find uplifting in the comments section below.

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread…for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging…The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress…”Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Psalm 46:1-3, 7, 10-11 NIV

…we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose…If God is for us, who can be against us?

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:28, 31, 38-39

For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 2 Corinthians 1:8-10

Everyday I drive home from work into a valley. The mountains stand tall above the vineyards and forests. I see the mountains and know that if God can sculpt and change the shape of this planet then he can truly sculpt my heart and help me to overcome and endure the challenges of life.

God provides us with a beautiful vision of the future to help us through life’s troubles.

Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:3-4
