When people are resurrected and made immortal, they will not be dying creatures, so they will be perfect. They will look young always, even when they are thousands of years old. Jesus tells us:

those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, (36) for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. Luke 20:35-36

On one occasion, when an angel is described, he is described as a young man – Mar 16:5-7

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. (6) And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. (7) But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”

We know this was actually an angel and not just a man, by comparing the above verses with an account of the same event from Matthew 28:5-7:

But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. (6) He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. (7) Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.”

I guess it won’t take us long to recognise our loved ones.

These wonderful events won’t take place in heaven but on earth. The idea that people go to heaven at death, is a misunderstanding of several scriptures. Scripture is quite clear that our hope is on the earth, not in heaven. What point is there to the resurrection, if people go to heaven at death?

Consider also the following passages: John 3:13

No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

The Psalmist of Israel, King David, described as being a man after God’s own heart, did not go to heaven. Acts 2:34:

For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand …

Our souls go to Heaven to await resurrection

John 3:13 “No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.”
Acts 2:29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Acts 2:34-35 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, (35) until I make your enemies your footstool.'”

These verses indicate that people do not go to heaven at death. William Tyndale tried to rectify this common misconception back in the early 17th century. He wrote to Thomas More on the subject of resurrection

“I marvel that Paul had not comforted the Thessalonians (1Thess. 4:14-) with the doctrine [going to heaven], if he had wist it, that the souls of their dead had been in joy; as he did with the resurrection, that their dead should rise again. If the souls be in heaven in as great glory as the angels, after your doctrine, show me what cause should be of the resurrection?”

The reading were very clear and easy to understand. These questions are often asked and the replies are not always stated clearly. Thanks.
