How many days were there between Jesus’ resurrection and his ascension to heaven?

There were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and his ascension to heaven. As Luke writes at the start of Acts:

[Jesus] presented himself alive to [his apostles] after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. [Acts 1:3]
