Simply in terms of the testimonies, the resurrection of Jesus is one of the best attested events in ancient history. Looking within the Bible we find the following material:
- 4 gospel accounts of the resurrection (Matt 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20)
- Paul’s list of the resurrection appearances (1 Cor 15:3-11)
- Repeated statements by the apostles, recorded in Acts (3:15; 4:10; 10:41; 13:30)
- Repeated statements in the NT letters (Rom 4:24; 6:4; 7:4; 8:11; 10:9; Gal 1:1; Eph 1:20; Col 2:12; 1 Thes 1:10; 1 Pet 1:21)
- John’s vision of the risen Lord in Revelation (1:9-20)
The NT gives us repeated and consistent claims that Jesus rose from the dead.
