Bible Q

Was Simon the Zealot sawn in half?

We don’t really know how he died. Simon the Zealot was one of Jesus’ original apostles (Luke 6:15). As with most of the apostles, we know very little about him. When it comes to his death, apparently there are a lot of different stories about how he died.1

  • He died peacefully
  • He was cut to pieces by a saw or sword
  • He was beaten to death with a club
  • He was sawn in half
  • He was crucified2
